Dr. Atta Ur Rehman is a Mining Engineer who obtained his bachelors and masters in mining engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore and PhD in Mining Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla. He holds multidimensional experience in private and public service in Pakistan. He has also worked with Komatsu Mining Corps, at Longview, Texas during his PhD. He was awarded outstanding graduate teaching award in 2020 and outstanding researcher award in 2021 by Department of Mining Engineering at Missouri S&T. He was visiting scholar at Missouri University of Science and Technology before joining Bureau of Economic Geology at University of Austin at Texas. For his Postdoctoral fellowship at BEG, he is carrying out scientific research on the development of supply chains and life-cycle assessments of different electricity generation sources from the perspective of critical minerals and rare earth elements. He will be working with graduate students to assess combined-cycle generating turbines (CCGT), Wind and Solar Energy by data assimilation, modeling, and analysis for gauging reliance on critical minerals and understanding their overall impact on environment using cradle to grave approach (Life Cycle Assessment).
