Dr. Ajay Kumar is a computer science engineer who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science from the University of Mysore, India. He completed his doctoral studies at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea. Prior to his current role at S&T, he served as a post-doctoral researcher at the Future Automotive Division, Daegu-Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), Daegu, South Korea. His work primarily focused on the development and deployment of software for Level 4 Autonomous driving. He also played a significant role in obtaining a commercial autonomous driving license for autonomous vehicles from the Korean government. Throughout his research career, he has concentrated on developing and demonstrating autonomous mobility solutions using UAV and UGV. His primary research interests encompass object detection using LiDAR and cameras, sensor fusion, SLAM, and 3D mapping. Presently, he is dedicated to enhancing autonomous navigation capabilities for SPOT core robots, which are exclusively intended to operate in underground mining tunnels and aid workers during emergency evacuation situations.
